Slacking

Playoffs and work. That is essentially what my life has been for the last couple weeks so I have been slacking my ass off on this blog. On the positive side: THE OILERS ARE IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS!!!!! SQUEEEEEEEE!! On the the negative side: I haven’t even wrote a thing since the playoffs started. Between the beer, yelling at my TV and more beer at Rogers Place I should have some time to publish my thoughts but have just been lazy as hell.

As lazy as I have been, I have actually gotten quite a bit of reading done the last few weeks so I have a massive reading update to do this weekend. Probably 5  books and 3 graphic novels. Hopefully I remember everything. I also have a few vinyl albums to review and want to talk about the Marvel movie adventure that I have almost completed. Lot’s to talk about. No more slacking!….. Let’s go Oilers.

Tonight is the night. The Edmonton Oilers are FINALLY playing a playoff game. Their first in an 11 year drought that ties an NHL record. First off this isn’t a hockey blog or any type of sports blog for that matter. There are many other Oilers, NHL, and other sports blogs out there that I follow that are way better at it than I am so I will let them have it for almost every day but today is special.

ALBUM REVIEW: OBSCURA – AKRÓASIS

Obscura-Akroasis-cover

Akróasis is an album came out last year from the German technical death metal band Obscura. They have had trouble keeping together the same lineup through their now four studio albums. Guitarist Tom Geldschläger just joined before this, their latest, album and even left after it. The only constant since Obscura’s inception in 2002 has been vocalist and rhythm guitarist Steffen Kummerer. This makes it quite impressive that they were still able to come together as one to create as fantastic piece of metal such as Akróasis.

April 3, 2017

I figured every Monday I would do a little update of what I have read for the past week. this year my goal is to read one book a week and one graphic novel every 2 weeks. It hasn’t been going well since I have been busy with work and other things so I figured a little blurb about what I have read might help motivate me to read more. There might be some minor spoilers but I will leave out the major ones.

This week I read very little. Work has been crazy but that is a shitty excuse. I shall do better. I might finish a few books this week and maybe a couple graphic novels. I plan on doing /r/Fantasy’s Bingo on Reddit that goes from April 1, 2017 to April 1, 2018.t looks interesting and very tough at the same but I am extremely excited for it. Take a look:

VINYL REVIEW – METALLICA – RIDE THE LIGHTNING

DSC00120

I explained earlier here why I enjoy buying vinyl albums.  I have a decent amount of albums now so I figured I might as well go through and review the albums I have and new ones I get along the way.

I picked up this gem about a year ago. To me it is one of the greatest albums all time. A significant amount of  people will put Master Of Puppets ahead of Ride The Lightning, and while they are easily Metallica’s best 2 albums, I put Ride The Lightning slightly ahead.
